JUst Announced: gilles Peterson at Xanadu

NYC Winter Jazzfest and Giant Step presents Gilles Peterson’s Sunday Session celebrating Jazz Dance with Kieran Hebden, Makaya McCraven, Emma-Jean Thackray, Zacche'us Paul, Melanie Charles, Lovie, and surprise guests at Xanadu Roller Arts in Bushwick, Brooklyn on Sunday, January 12 at 6:00 pm. 

Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 22 at noon.

The event is inspired by the Jazz Dance movement in UK in the late 1980’s early 1990’s. Young clubbers would dance to the jazz and latin inspired rhythms and sounds of Art Blakey, Sun Ra, Willis Jackson, Airto etc. They would dress in a retro 1940s bebop style and express themselves on the dancefloor with phonetic moves, drops and jumps.
