Marta Sánchez Quintet was created in 2013. Since then, they have released four albums: “Partenika” (2015), “Danza imposible” (2017), and “El Rayo de Luz” (2019) on Fresh Sounds Records and “SAAM (Spanish American Art Museum) (2022) on Whirlwind Recordings.

All of the albums received great reviews from the American press, with “Partenika” and “El Rayo de Luz” selected by The New York Times as one of the 10 best albums of 2015 and Best 10 jazz albums of 2019. Her records have been featured at The New York TImes, The Wall Street Journal, NPR’s Fresh Air, DownBeat, WBGO, among many other outlets. The quintet has performed at prestigious venues of New York, such as Birdland, Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club, The Jazz Gallery, and Roulette Intermedium among many others and at such venues and festivals as Jazz Festival Vitoria Gasteiz, Madrid Jazz Festival, New York Winter Jazzfest, Eurojazz in Mexico City, and many others.

Marta Sánchez came to New York in 2011 to study a master in Jazz Piano Performance at NYU thanks to a Fulbright scholarship. Since then she has been playing in New York and around the world on a regular basis. She received a MacDowell grant in 2017 and  2021.
